SkyDesk — Privacy Policy

Not for flight planning, navigation, or operational use. SkyDesk is for entertainment and plane spotting only.

SkyDesk draws a live, ATC-style flight radar on your pages. We designed it to keep your browsing data on your own device. We do not sell your personal information. We use limited, anonymous product analytics (described below) to measure installs and purchases — not what pages you visit. See also our Terms of Service.

Website analytics

The SkyDesk landing page at cmb-server.github.io/SkyDesk uses Google Analytics 4 to measure page views, referrers, general traffic patterns, and whether visitors click the Chrome Web Store install button (click_install event). Google may set cookies or collect device and usage data as described in Google's privacy policy.

Extension product analytics

The SkyDesk extension sends a small number of anonymous funnel events to the same Google Analytics property so we can understand installs and purchases (not individual browsing). These events do not include page URLs, flight lookups, radar settings, or email addresses:

• extension_install — first-time install
• purchase — lifetime Pro purchase confirmed via ExtensionPay (plan type only)

Events use a random ID stored in chrome.storage.local (skGaClientId). Payment details remain with ExtensionPay/Stripe; see the Payments section below.

What SkyDesk stores

SkyDesk saves only your preferences using the browser's extension storage, which may sync across devices signed in to your browser profile:

• chrome.storage.sync — radar center, display mode, colors, opacity, range, layers, widget position/size, and similar settings.
• chrome.storage.local — cached ADS-B feed snapshot (sk_feed_cache, ~60-second TTL); shift+click selected aircraft (sk_selected_aircraft, ~10-minute TTL); flight-tracker trail points (up to 800 points, retained up to 6 hours); license cache (skEntitlementCache, may include email from ExtensionPay); anonymous analytics client ID (skGaClientId) for install/purchase funnel metrics only.

This data stays in your browser profile. SkyDesk has no backend servers and never receives a copy of your preferences.

Location

The "Use my location" button uses your browser's geolocation API only when you click it. Coordinates are used locally to center the radar and may be saved as a preference. They are never sent to us.

Network requests to third parties

To show live data, SkyDesk requests information directly from third-party aviation and map providers from your browser. Requests typically include the radar center or map area, and — when you look one up — a flight number. We do not operate these services; their privacy policies apply:

• adsb.lol and adsb.fi — live aircraft positions (community ADS-B data, ODbL).
• hexdb.io — flight route lookups (fallback).
• OurAirports (via raw.githubusercontent.com) — airport and runway data.
• OpenStreetMap / Overpass — airport terminal footprints.
• FAA Aviation Weather Center — airport metadata.
• RainViewer — weather-radar map tiles.
• Esri ArcGIS Online — terrain-relief map tiles.

Payments (lifetime license)

SkyDesk requires a $6.99 one-time lifetime license to use radar features. There is no free tier, no free trial, and no subscription. Payments are processed by ExtensionPay using Stripe. When you purchase, ExtensionPay collects your email address and payment details on their secure checkout pages. SkyDesk does not handle card numbers directly. ExtensionPay stores payment information in Stripe; see ExtensionPay terms and Stripe privacy.

The extension checks your license status with ExtensionPay to enable the product (radar, tracking, map layers, ground mode, and similar). Status may be cached locally in skEntitlementCache. We do not use your email for marketing unless you opt in elsewhere.

Permissions

• storage — save preferences locally (above).
• tabs — open the full radar tab, legal pages, and apply settings to open pages.
• Host access to http://*/* and https://*/* — declarative content scripts inject the radar overlay on normal webpages you visit (Chrome Web Store and ExtensionPay are excluded). The overlay does not use the scripting permission.
• Host access to the data providers listed above — fetch radar, route, weather, and airport data.
• Host access to https://www.google-analytics.com/* — optional anonymous install/purchase funnel events only (see Extension product analytics).

SkyDesk's content script / injected overlay renders the radar on pages you visit but does not read page content, form data, or browsing history.

Children's privacy

SkyDesk is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

Your data rights

You can clear SkyDesk data anytime via your browser's extension storage or by uninstalling. For payment data held by ExtensionPay/Stripe, contact them directly or email us and we will assist where we can.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL and the date above will be revised.
